Bride with Stage 4 Cancer Lives to See Wedding Day After Doctors - Article Health

In September, docs entreated 29-year-vintage Laurin Bank to transport up her wedding ceremony date, fearing that the most cancers affected person wouldn’t stay to peer March 24. She stated “no.”

“This date changed into special to us,” Bank says of herself and her now-husband Michael. “We felt like moving that date became giving up and giving in to the cancer and letting it run our lives. We didn’t want to offer in. That changed into our aim … and I became able to walk down the aisle to my husband. I turned into able to dance with him and I didn’t want a wheelchair or oxygen. I did it I made it.”

Bank, of Columbia, South Carolina, was diagnosed with degree two breast cancer in September 2014. She underwent chemotherapy, radiation and a double mastectomy before being declared most cancers-loose in April 2015.

“When I discovered I turned into cancer free I felt ecstatic,” she tells PEOPLE. “I felt loose and that I had gotten my life lower back. And I become more ready than ever to live my life.”

However, her health took a flip in August 2017 while medical doctors informed Bank her cancer had back as degree 4, and had metastatized to her bones, liver and lungs.

“It’s not news I wanted to hear,” she tells PEOPLE. “I checked out my oncologist and said, ‘pleasant over quantity. That’s my purpose. And if there’s treatment, I want to do it.’ I turned into ready to combat. I fought as soon as and I knew I should combat once more. Being level four is scary but I’m young, so I even have a lot of combat in me.”

Bank began treatment as a part of a clinical trial and her health began to improve. But, in September, doctors gave her a fierce warning.

“The oncologist stated waiting six greater months to get married would be volatile. She said she wasn’t positive whether or not I’d need a wheelchair to get me down the aisle. She stated it would be fine for us to transport up our wedding ceremony date. The physician also said with my lungs now not being so strong, I might need oxygen for my wedding day.”
